If Koeman remains at the helm of the Catalans, though.
Following Barcelona‘s 2-1 win over Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League on Wednesday, Ronald Koeman wasn’t particularly impressed with his side’s ‘very bad‘ off-the-ball movement.
What’s more, the Dutchman appears to have questioned Lionel Messi‘s contribution to the team’s pressing play.
“Sometimes you can’t press. If you press it should be with the whole team. We have to talk and analyse,” Koeman said.
Thus, a BarcaForum user @xxxxxx has suggested that Leo’s unwillingness or inability to follow the manager’s gameplan could result in the Argentine leaving Camp Nou soon.
“He doesn’t look bothered half the time. Which is very true,” @xxxxxx wrote.
“The other half is him trying to dribble by 4 guys and play passes that are very difficult. It’s not the Messi I’m used to seeing. He’s definitely not playing his natural game at the moment. “He doesn’t have anyone that good to link up with. There is no chemistry between Dembele, Griezmann, Fati and himself. Messi has sulked at his teammates an awful lot this season.
“Never seen him sulk so much. I feel it’s only going to get much worse as the season goes on.”
As Messi is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and apparently won’t extend his deal, @xxxxxx believes the Catalans are likely to offload the 33-year-old to Man City already in January.
“They could easily get him for around 50m to 60m in January, considering how bad our situation is at the moment,” he added.
“Plus, we’ll free up his massive salary. We may be forced to sell him if Messi does agree to sign a pre-contract with City in January.”
