Ex-Lyon manager brings Depay one step closer to Barcelona

• Gerard Houllier believes that Barca’s interest in Memphis Depay is way too strong.
• Depay is happy at Lyon but there was Eric Abidal who was happy too but signed for Barca nonetheless, Houllier explains.
• However, he also suggests that other clubs will try to sign him if he keeps up to his peak level.

“We [Lyon] will do everything possible to keep him [Depay] but it’s very possible that… it’s football and we’ll see,” former Lyon manager Gerard Houllier has told Telefoot.

“If his performances are as they were before his injury, it is likely that other clubs will come, but I think that the Barca coach [Koeman] appreciates him too much.
