No goalkeeper has received as many bottles as Alves.
Former Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves has received 21 beer bottles from Budweiser in their campaign to celebrate Leo Messi beating Pele’s record for most goals scored for a single club.
The Brazilian posted a picture of his collection on Instagram captioning it: “Congratulations Leo Messi! 644 goals for a club is a really great record! With my 21 bottles, it seems I have my own record.”
Former Atletico Madrid left-back Felipe Luis commented: “Another 2 years and you could’ve opened a bar.”
Messi scored 21 goals in 17 matches against Diego Alves; 6 of those goals came during the Brazilian’s spell at Almeria.
