In his recent interview with Movistar, Dani Alves commented on Barcelona not including him in the squad for the Europa League.
“We are employees. The club decides. If helping the club means staying out of the Europa League, I’ll do it,” the right-back responded.
“I would have liked to be on the squad, but, unfortunately, we were four players for three spots. I’m not going to get bad vibes. I will keep trying to help.
“We need unity in the group. We have to create a healthy environment of positivity, in which there are no negative vibes.”
Xavi picked Adama Traore, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres ahead of Dani for the Europa League.
The coach reportedly believes that Alves, because of his age, cannot play twice a week. He prioritizes La Liga, and that’s why he made the decision.
Diario Sport claim that Xavi personally called the 38-year-old to inform him. The right-back was in South America, having received the national team call-up.
