Erik ten Hag’s redesigned Manchester United midfield will feature Christian Eriksen as the “cherry on top.”

Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Manchester United and will become Erik ten Hag’s first midfield signing.
After a major exodus this summer, the new manager is ready to replenish his midfield. Many expected number one target Frenkie de Jong to be the first player through the door, but it was left-back Tyrell Malacia who did so.
Andreas Pereira, another midfielder, looks ready to leave Old Trafford, while James Garner’s short-term future remains uncertain after a fantastic promotion season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Donny van de Beek, on the other hand, returns from Everton with many fans expecting he will rediscover his Ajax form under his previous mentor at United. Eriksen, like Van de Beek, grew up in the Ajax academy, and his brief stint with Brentford last season demonstrated that he still has what it takes to make an impression at the highest level.
“Christian Eriksen is the type of player you allow a little bit of leeway to,” he told SpilXperten of what Eriksen would add to the team. He’s an excellent and astute player.
“He offers a lot of creativity, a few goals, and a lot of experience, and he’ll be a terrific addition to the team.” I believe it is a matter of getting the ball to him and ensuring that he receives the ball in the proper spots and high enough up on the pitch to make an effect in games. He’ll make opportunities.
“He’ll get his fair share of goals.” Sharpe detailed how he feels Ten Hag will eventually put together a midfield capable of competing next season, with Eriksen being the missing piece in the jigsaw.
“I think it’ll be a great midfield, and Christian Eriksen might truly be the cherry on top of that midfield,” he continued.
“He had the ability to do magic.” So long as they get the ball to him in the appropriate spots.”
