I’m Spanish. I’ve lived for 51 years in Gijon and I’ve rooted for Chelsea since 9 thanks to my British grandad (a WWII veteran).
I know life a bit from various dark corners.
We’ve all heard about the story about Greenwood and his GF. No doubt, you can’t beat women up and force them to have sex under any circumstances.
What’s next for Greenwood?
He’ll definitely have to withstand huge psychological pressure, let alone official punishment. He’ll have to bear that burden for the rest of his life. And he’s still just a kid.
Does it mean he should be stigmatized for the rest of his life, too? I don’t think so. He will pay his price regardless. At the end of the day, he’s not a pedophile or a serial killer.
What about a fresh start for his football career and – even more importantly – to his life with a new team and in a new city?
What if he reboots his whole life in London and… at Chelsea?
As a player, Mason is extremely talented, a versatile attacker who can operate from all sides, his determination on the pitch has been praised since his early days (mind you, he scored a hat-trick vs the Blues’ youth side 4 years ago). Greenwood really seems like a natural fit for Tuchel’s vision and our squad of current players.
As a man, he’ll have to prove A LOT which obviously will have a positive impact on his sporting career as well (especially vs Man United), given that from now on he’ll be monitored under the most detailed microscopes.
Does he deserve a second chance? Yes. Maybe our team could become that helping hand for him. It looks to me as a true act of virtue our club has always represented. How can you not be nice playing alongside the king of humility and kindness as Kante?:)
Only God has the right to pass his final verdict on anybody.
