Chelsea and Barcelona set to tussle for young sensation

Both Chelsea and Barcelona are after Dani Olmo who is one of the most sought after prospects in European football.

Olmo currently plays for Dinamo Zagreb and is being heavily targetted by the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona. At the moment, Chelsea seem to be the club that is ultimately going to land the forward, as per Football London.

Dinamo Zagreb are looking at a fee around £34 million for the youngster and for a while, it did look like Barcelona were going to make a move by going one up and offer a deal to the Croatian Club worth around £35 million, which betters that of Chelsea’s.

Frank Lampard’s side hasn’t been able to put away their opposition away from home and that has really hurt their progress this season. Olmo seems to be in sync with his plans for the club and the PL giants are likely to make a move in the coming days.

Quique Setien’s side showed interest in the youngster for a brief period of time before Luis Suarez got injured. Now their top priority remains to find suitable and long-term replacements for Luis Suarez. Therefore, for the time being it does look like the Blaugranes have let Olmo off the hook, which leaves Chelsea as the favourites to land the forward.

Barca haven’t been at their best this season with many defense lapses. Moreover, the midfield has looked dependent on Messi. Barcelona are in need of a dependable and established striker and Olmo still has a long way to go before he’s firmly established in the European circles. The 21 year old did express his happiness upon learning Barcelona’s interest in him but only the Blaugranes management knows better and only time will tell where this one goes.
