Borussia Dortmund ‘Will Not’ Sell Jadon Sancho in January – Even for €120m Valuation

Borussia Dortmund will not sell superstar Jason Sancho in the January transfer window, a new report has claimed – even if a potential suitor matches their €120m valuation of the player.

Manchester United looked poised to bring the 20-year-old to Old Trafford in the summer but failed to strike a deal with a defiant BVB, with the Red Devils’ naive negotiation tactics proving costly.

The German giants were willing to oversee Sancho’s departure earlier in the summer and set an August 10 deadline for United to match their valuation. A worthwhile offer from the Manchester club was never forthcoming though, and despite United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward remaining confident that Dortmund would change tact, they didn’t.

Sancho, meanwhile, is thought to have felt undervalued by the way United went about negotiations, and is considering his future options while he remains content in Germany.

Now, according to German news outlet Bild, the England international is destined to remain at Signal Iduna Park for the whole 2020/21 campaign.

The report notes that BVB will rebuff any offers in the next transfer window, even if they meet the club’s previous €120m asking price for the 20-year-old.

Bild add that Dortmund’s hierarchy now have no intention of selling their prized asset before next summer, with his value poised to rise as Europe’s elite clubs begin to recover financially from the strains brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

Sancho has evolved into a superstar in Dortmund following his unassuming switch from Manchester City in 2017. He has notched a staggering 63 goal contributions over the last two Bundesliga campaigns but has endured a stop-start opening to the 2020/21 season.

He impressed in Dortmund’s 3-0 victory over Gladbach on matchday one but was thwarted by a rugged Augsburg outfit the following week. The crafty winger has since missed his side’s last two outings due to illness before going away on international duty with England.

The former City academy star is set to return to Lucien Favre’s starting XI for their trip to Hoffenheim on Saturday, while United will return to Premier League action against Newcastle still lacking the world class right winger they so desperately crave.
