Barcelona announced on Thursday evening that Argentine forward Lionel Messi will not continue to play at the club, after spending more than 16 years in the first team.

The Argentine captain arrived at Camp Nou the FC Barcelona home ground around 11:00 am GMT, to deliver his farewell speech, and after his speech, he was greeted by a large crowd who were echoing his name as he drove out of the ground.

The Barcelona star in his speech stated that he never expected to leave Barcelona especially this season where the thought of leaving never crossed his mind unlike last season when he wanted to force a move from the club.

Messi may not play in the Spanish League this season or anymore, but his legacies will last forever as one of the best players who played in the league.
