The Catalans are likely to have a tougher group this year as they find themselves placed in Pot 2.
The Champions League group stage draw will be held on Thursday, October 1 at the UEFA headquarters in Switzerland. Barcelona will be drawn in a group of four against one team from Pots 1, 3 and 4.
Barca’s potential rivals:
Pot 1: Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Juventus, PSG, Zenit and Porto (can’t be drawn against Real Madrid and Sevilla).
Pot 3: RB Leipzig, Inter Milan, Lazio, Atalanta, Red Bull Salzburg, Olympiakos, Dynamo Kiyv and Krasnodar.
Pot 4: Borussia Monchengladbach, Basaksehir, Rennes, Club Brugge, Ferencvaros, Marseille, Lokomotiv Moscow, and Midtjylland.
As for Barca themselves, they are placed in Pot 2 because they failed to win La Liga last season.
Also in Pot 2 are: Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Ajax.
