Barca legend Ronaldinho arrested in Paraguay for faking his passport

  • The fake identity falsely suggests that Ronaldinho has a Paraguayan citizenship.
  • The former player fakes his documents because his real passport was confiscated back in 2018.
  • He is in Paraguay to promote his biography and do some charity work.

Ronaldinho Gaucho has recently got involved in a controversial incident. The Brazilian is currently in custody in the Paraguayan capital city of Asuncion. Barca’s former star, as well as his brother Roberto, has been arrested for entering the country with fake passports, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The first images of Ronaldinho’s fake passport show his correct name and birthdate. However, it falsely suggests the player has a Paraguayan citizenship.

Ronaldinho’s real passport was confiscated by the Brazilian authorities in 2018. The former player was involved in some illegal construction issues.

Mundo Deportivo add that Ronaldinho arrived in Paraguay to promote his biography ‘Genius in life’. Also, he had some charity work to attend to.

Ronaldinho played for Barcelona between 2003 and 2008. He scored 94 goals in 207 appearances as a Blaugrana and won four trophies. During his Blaugrana times, he also claimed the Ballon d’Or. He was the last Barca player before Leo Messi to win this award in 2005.

Apart from Barca, Ronaldinho used to play for AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Gremio, Flamengo, Atletico Mineiro and Fluminense.

Ronaldinho also served as Barcelona’s official ambassador, however, he is said to be no longer occupying this post due to his close ties with the Brazil president Jair Bolsonaro renowned for his controversial policies.
