As the fan puts it, why would Font talk about failing in his presidential campaign?
Discussing the presidential campaigns of Victor Font and Joan Laporta, Reddit user Sojee97 said that he liked the former’s economic plan but wasn’t as sure about the sporting project. Of course, this ended in one of the most frequently asked questions regarding Font’s campaign: what if Xavi fails?
Here’s how another Barcelona fan, northdakota1337, explained why Font doesn’t need to care about the what-ifs.
“Font has no plan B? Yeah, and what plan B has Laporta and other candidates? The first thing is why would he talk about failing in his campaign? You can’t just walk around and say in interviews that if it all goes to sh*t he will fire Xavi and everyone and appoint Arteta or somebody else.
“He stated multiple times that he wants Xavi to be head of sporting management, so Xavi as a manager is kind of plan B if Koeman doesn’t work out. Laporta just walks around and talks about Haaland like he did 17 years ago about Beckham or 5 years ago about Pogba.
“Meanwhile, Font has been planning his campaign for a few years. When Barca won the treble with Lucho, he said if nothing changes, Barca will fall in a few years and that is exactly what happened.
“He has been preparing for this since years and I am 100% sure that he has some kind of B plan if this doesn’t work out, but he just simply doesn’t talk about this since he believes in his project.”
Barcelona have officially confirmed that the next presidential election will take place on January 24.
