Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as they welcome Leicester City to north London.
Mikel Arteta’s side have made a solid enough start to the season, having won three of their opening five Premier League matches, losing the other two.
The club spent big during the transfer window to reinforce the playing squad with top talent, including marquee signing Thomas Partey and veteran Brazilian winger Willian.
They will also be looking to use the January transfer window to their advantage, and with just over two months until clubs can do business again, rumours regarding the club’s potential targets are plentiful.
With that in mind, here is a round-up of all the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.
Aouar interest remains ahead of January move
The Gunners are said to have retained a keen interest in signing Lyon’s in-demand playmaker Houssem Aouar.
The Frenchman was heavily courted by the club throughout the summer but a move ultimately failed to materialise.
He has contributed one goal in five appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit this season and made his international debut earlier this month during France’s 7-1 thrashing of Ukraine.
Aouar still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, but could be tempted into a Premier League switch should Arsenal continue their pursuit of the player in January.
Jorginho was open to Arsenal switch
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has revealed he was not against the idea of moving to north London during the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old joined the Blues in 2018 from Napoli and has revealed that contact was made with Arsenal, but nothing came of it.
Speaking to ESPN Brazil, he said: “I believe that every player is open to negotiations. So I believe there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I remain here.”
It remains to be seen whether or not the club will go back in for Jorginho’s services in January.
Coutinho came ‘really close’ to joining
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that Arsenal nearly pulled off a move for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho in August, but their hopes was curtailed by incoming boss Ronald Koeman who decided to keep the Brazil international.
He was also being tracked by Juventus and former club Liverpool.
Romano told the Liverpool Echo : “Arsenal were really close and at the start of August, they were ready.
“But once Koeman arrived, he understood it was difficult to sign other players, for example Memphis Depay.
“The player said no to Liverpool and Juventus – the player said it was not a matter of money; he wanted to stay [at Barcelona].”
