Gavi is all set to sign a new six-year contract at Barcelona. RAC 1 claims the deal will be announced in a matter of hours.
What’s more, Gavi will be promoted to the first team and given a squad number between 1 and 25. Thus, the player will relinquish his no. 30 shirt and take up a new number.
Here are six squad numbers Barca could offer the teenager.
No. 6 – With Riqui Puig likely to leave, Xavi’s iconic number would be befitting for Gavi.
No. 7 – Ousmane Dembele is expected to vacate the number in June. Gavi could take it.
No. 11 – Adama Traore is expected to return to England, which leaves his number available to Gavi.
No. 13 – Neto is most likely leaving too, Gavi could be offered his vacant squad number.
No. 16 – Pedri’s old number could be taken by Gavi.
No. 17 – Luuk de Jong is leaving the club this summer, Gavi could take a number synonymous with his age.
Barcelona cannot hand Gavi the number 8 as it now belongs to Pedri.
