Some players at Old Trafford had a memorable year while others will look to improve in 2021.

Best Players

Bruno Fernandes: 9.5/10

The Portuguese midfielder had an incredible year at Man United and has proven to be one of our best signings in the last few decades since arriving in January. In 44 appearances, he’s scored 26 goals and registered 16 assists, averaging a goal contribution in almost every game!

He’s dominating the Premier League goal contribution tables right now and looks to be getting better & better. Fernandes has completely transformed the club since arriving, acting as a leader and using his commanding nature to inscribe a winning mentality into the players.

Marcus Rashford: 9/10

Rashford had to deal with injury problems in the first few months of 2020 but gradually rediscovered his form after recovering from his back injury. This season, he’s scored 13 goals and provided 8 assists in all competitions, being the second-best player after Bruno.

With his speed and ability to create chaos down the left-wing, Rashford has transformed into a vital pillar of United’s attack and was definitely one of our best-attacking stars of the year.

Fred: 9/10

2020 has definitely been the year of Fred, who has been able to prove why United paid so much money for him. He was fortunate to get enough game-time due to the injuries to Paul Pogba, but definitely latched onto his opportunities to prove his class.

The Brazilian midfielder’s energetic nature, hard-working ability and stunning influence in midfield has helped develop a fighting spirit in the side. Fred has put in some solid performances against top sides as well and established himself as an undroppable with consistently solid performances this year.

Mason Greenwood: 8/10

This was also the year for Mason Greenwood to break through the scenes and show why he’s the heir to the No.9 jersey at Old Trafford. Greenwood scored more than 15 goals in all competition last season and his real contribution came after the Premier League restarted in June.

With his deadly finishing ability, amazing accuracy with his shots and overall swagger, the youngster has been a joy to watch and looks set to be the next big thing for the Red Devils.

Anthony Martial: 8/10

Martial finished the 2019/20 season as Man United’s top scorer and the reason behind him is found his peak goalscoring form in 2020. Indeed, most of his 23 goals (in all competitions) came after the turn of the year – with Martial playing a significant role to get us qualify for the Champions League this season.

While he might’ve stopped thjs season a bit slowly, Martial still had a successful year with United and proved himself worthy of donning the No.9 shirt at the club.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 8/10

While there are certain improvements needed in his attacking game, there is no doubting that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of the best defenders in the Premier League. He had a memorable year with United, shutting down Raheem Sterling in multiple Manchester Derbies and helping keep a solid grip on his flank in every game.

He topped the tackling stats in the Premier League last season, made many wingers look foolish and put in some really formidable performance in an impressive year.

Should’ve done better.

Paul Pogba: 5/10

Pogba suffered from multiple injury issues this year which never really allowed him to get going this year. While he did put in some really good performances last season and in this campaign, he’s been unable to maintain any kind of consistency.

The Frenchman has also been riddled by outside controversy created by his agent Mino Raiola, which hasn’t helped his case one bit. In a year when Bruno delivered all the goods for United, Pogba was overshadowed and should’ve done better to assert himself as important as the Portuguese midfielder.

Harry Maguire – 5/10

Harry Maguire played the most minutes of any player for United this year and rarely missed any games for the Red Devils. But for his incredible consistency in playing games, he couldn’t revert that into strengthening his form.

The Englishman has constantly been troubled by pacy attacks and unable to build a strong defensive record this season. Maguire was also effected by his own controversies involving an arrest in Greece in the summer and the United captain really needs to improve to lead from the front going forward.

Jesse Lingard – 3/10

After a pretty disappointing 2019, Jesse Lingard showed no passion or desire to redeem himself in 2020. Indeed, the winger put in mediocre performances regularly and only scored that one prominent goal against Leicester City at the end of last season. He’s lost his place not only in the team, but also in the squad and isn’t in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans anymore.

David de Gea – 4/10

David de Gea also had a year to forget and couldn’t really tap into his superhero mode at any point. He conceded cheap goals regularly last season and some of his shocking mistake (like the one against Everton last season) was exactly why Dean Henderson was retained into the squad by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

De Gea couldn’t consolidate him among the league’s best and needs to make major improvements to inherit the ‘Super Dave name once again.
