Trincao is now the only pure winger Barca have in their squad.

Ousmane Dembele has picked up a thigh injury and is expected to miss at least two weeks of action. Here’s what we imagine Barcelona’s starting XI might look like without the 23-year-old.

1. Coutinho on the left

Barca XI: Ter Stegen; Dest, Araujo, Lenglet, Alba; De Jong, Pjanic; Messi, Griezmann, Coutinho; Braithwaite.

  • Ronald Koeman has played Philippe Coutinho on the left on two occasions already, against Osasuna and Cadiz.
  • This would allow Antoine Griezmann to play in his favourite position.

2. Pedri in

  • Pedri played on the left wing against Juventus and did a great job; the youngster was mostly used as a winger last year at Las Palmas.
  • Coutinho could finally return to the attacking midfielder position as he’s been underperforming in the matches he played on the wing.

3. Trincao to switch sides

Barca XI: Ter Stegen; Dest, Araujo, Lenglet, Alba; De Jong, Pjanic; Messi, Coutinho, Trincao; Griezmann.

  • Francisco Trincao remains Barcelona’s only pure winger as both Dembele and Ansu Fati are out.
  • Although the Portuguese is a right winger, Koeman could give him a chance on the opposite side so we have at least one winger on the team.
