The British and Irish Lions overcame a tough first half challenge from the Cell C Sharks to romp to a 71-31 win at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.
The Lions ran in 11 tries with Jamie George, Tadhg Beirne and Anthony Watson each crossing the whitewash twice. Christopher Harris, Elliot Daly, Duhan van der Merwe, Tom Curry and Jack Conan all scored a try each while Dan Biggar kicked eight conversions.
Anthonie Volminck (2), Werner Kok, Thaakir Abrahams and Jaden Henrikse scored the tries for the South African provincial side and Lionel Cronje added six points from the boot.
Hendrikse was sent off five minutes into the second half for an elbow to the head of Liam Williams swinging the game in favour of the Lions after the first half had ended 26-26.
It was the Lions’ second success against the Sharks this week following a 54-7 win at Ellis Park on Wednesday.
The fixture was rearranged as such due to the Vodacom Bulls being unable to play due to a COVID-19 outbreak within their camp.
