The appointment of Alhaji Nuhu Bamali as the new Emir of Zazzau is brewing discontent among title-holders and others in the emirate, as one of them tendered his letter of resignation.

A member of the Zazzau Emirate Council, Aminu Yakubu-Wambai, decided to resign his position as Wakilin Raya Kasar Zazzau, hours after the appointment of the new monarch.

On Wednesday, Governor Nasir el-Rufai had appointed Bamalli as the new emir to succeed Dr. Shehu Idris who died recently after 45 years on the throne.

Wambai was a permanent emirate council member representing Kaduna South Council before he resigned yesterday from the position he had held for 19 years.

As many Kaduna residents are rattled by kidnappers who now invade mostly their homes, the Nigerian Institution of Estates Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has advised that houses should be built in strategic, accessible locations and light them up with surveillance apparatus.
Speaking shortly after leading some group of estate surveyors to Kaduna State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to advise the state government on housing, the state chairman of NIESV, Olubunmi Ogundiya, noted that people living in isolated areas would face more security challenges.

Ogundiya asked the state government to establish more security posts and instal surveillance facilities in cities and flashpoints.

“We observe that the state is involved in the construction of houses all over as a social function of the government for the citizenry. It is something that we appreciate. So we have come to give ideas that will benefit the government, citizens and users of the buildings,” he said.

Meanwhile the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has advised motorists plying the Kaduna highways this Saturday to take alternative routes, as President Muhammadu Buhari attends the combined Passing Out Parade (POP) for 67 Regular Course and Short Service Course 46 (Army) as the Special Guest of Honour.

In a statement by NDA Public Relations Officer (PRO), Maj. Abubakar Abdullahi, urged the general public to note that Kawo/Mando/Airport road would be busy from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.

He advised road-users, who do not have anything to do around the NDA area, to use alternative routes to avoid unnecessary delay.

“The alternative routes are Kaduna Airport/Afaka/Rigachukun/Kawo, while passengers connecting Rigasa Railway Station from Kaduna City could use Kawo/Nnamdi Azikwe By-pass/Bakin Ruwa/Rigasa/Railway Station,” he said.
