Two persons were yesterday confirmed dead, while others were injured in two separate road crashes that occured at Alfred Rewane Road, by Marriage Registry intersection, Ikoyi and Unity Bus Stop inward Isheri roundabout, after General Hospital around Isheri area of Igando, Lagos.

Isheri zonal head of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Afolalu Gbenga, who confirmed the accident, said two people (pedestrian and passenger) died instantly in the accident involving a PSP truck and Honda Civic car (black APP 79 HF) at Isheri Roundabout immediately after General Hospital.

Gbenga said the dead victims were immediately handed over to medical personnel (LASAMBUS) present at the scene of the accident by LASTMA officials.

According to him, investigation revealed that the Honda Civic car lost control from the other end of the road as a result of over speeding and rammed into a stationed PSP truck packing refuse by the roadside at Isheri.

“The two accidented vehicles (PSP truck & Honda Civic car) were removed from the road by LASTMA officials to avoid causing impediment to free flow of traffic,” he added.

Also, two people, severely injured at the Ikoyi accident, were rushed to Lagos Island hospital for treatment by LASTMA officers around the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

The accident, according to LASTMA’s head of enforcement team, Ikoyi, Bravo Lukman, involved a LAWMA truck and a fully loaded (goods) LT commercial bus marked: MUS 625 XY.

Immediate investigation revealed that the fully loaded LT commercial bus developed a brake failure and ran into a moving LAWMA truck close to an intersection with high speed.

Bravo Lukman disclosed further that while the driver of the LT commercial bus sustained serious internal injury on his back, his ‘motor boy’ had his right leg bone fractured.
