Suspected enforcers of the suspended Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) sit at home order on Monday returned to the streets of Enugu, shooting sporadically.

It was gathered that the suspected enforcers besieged the New Market area Monday morning and opened fire on passengers

The Guardian gathered that the passengers had left their homes early to attend to their businesses when the bullets started raining on the commuter bus conveying them.

Some of them were said to have sustained injuries from bullet wounds.

A source said the police intervened and brought in two victims who sustained gunshot wounds to the ESUT Medical Centre, Parkland.

Two people were said to have been killed but Enugu Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed the incident, said there was no death.

“There was a shooting incident at Odegba, along Iva Valley Road, Enugu in the early hours of this morning, by yet-to-be-identified armed men, which led to the injury of two persons,” Ndukwe said.

“However, the victims are responding to treatment at the hospital where they were promptly taken to by Police Operatives, who swiftly responded to a distress call on the incident.”

He added that an investigation had been launched to fish out the fleeing miscreants.

The incident led to the streets being deserted as many who had gone out or ready to resume their daily activities returned home.
