Police ban fireworks during Christmas
As Christians prepare for the Christmas celebrations all over the world, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on Nigerians to pray for God’s intervention in the affairs of the country.
He made the call yesterday after the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at Government House Chapel, Asaba, saying it was time to sincerely give thanks to God given the challenges the state and the country went through during the year.
He said if Nigerians sustained their prayers, God would positively change the country’s situation, no matter the trials.
MEANWHILE, the state Commissioner of Police (CP), Hafiz Inuwa, has banned the use of fireworks during the Christmas celebrations, saying all violators will be arrested and prosecuted.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the CP ordered Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the state to arrest sellers of fireworks including knockouts, bangers and other explosive devices.
