Nigerian Sunday Igboho – Yomi Alliyu (SAN), counsel to the Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho has revealed that his client was nabbed by the International Criminal Police Organisation in Cotonou, Benin Republic, Afriupdate News reports.
Igboho’s lawyer stated this in a statement on Tuesday hours after the Yoruba nation freedom fighter was arrested in an airport in Cotonou while allegedly making moves to fly to an European country.
According to the statement, the wanted agitator was arrested alongside his wife, who is a German citizen.
The counsel revealed that the arrest was in collaboration with the Nigerian government.
He appealed to the German Government and other the international community “to rise up and curb the impunity of the Nigerian Government by refusing any application for extradition of our Client who already has application before the International Criminal Court duly acknowledged”.
A close aide to Nigeria Sunday Igboho has also confirmed the arrest of one of the agitators for the actualisation of Yoruba nation.
Afriupdate News had earlier reported that Igboho was arrested on Tuesday outside the country.
This online news medium gathered that Igboho was arrested in Cotonou. But, one of his close aides, has confirmed the arrest.
The aide, however, did not give further details on how he was arrested.

He said, “Yes. The story is everywhere.
“But, I will not give you further details.
“I am telling you that he has been arrested
Counsel to Mr. Igboho, Chief Yomi Aliu, when contacted also refused to speak on the matter.
Aliu said he cannot speak now.
“I cannot talk now”.
