The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development has debunked claims by the protesting N-Power beneficiaries that they were being owed up to three months’ stipends.
The Ministry challenged those beneficiaries with such claims to come forward by presenting their information to the ministry for verification and appropriate action.
The Humanitarian Affairs ministry, through its spokesperson, Rhoda Iliya, stated on Monday that claims of non-payment of stipends to N-Power beneficiaries for three months were false.
Mrs Iliya stated that those making the claims that they were being owed may not be bonafide beneficiaries of the famed scheme, insisting that they forward their particulars to the ministry for proper authentication.
“We will need the names of the beneficiaries in writing for the Ministry to verify if they have been paid or not,” said Iliya as quoted by Vanguard.
Recall that Ms Farouq had on the 23rd of May announced the payment of April stipends to N-Power beneficiaries and further hinted at plans to streamline the programme for better efficiency upon payment of May stipends.
As well, she admitted that her ministry encountered issues with the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) that caused the delay of payment to the beneficiaries (for April).
The minister’s comments came against the backdrop of the outcry by the beneficiaries for their stipends amid the economic impacts of the restrictions to contain Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) across Nigeria.

Meanwhile, while Farouq’s spokesperson claim they are not owing N-Power beneficiaries, handlers of its verified official Twitter page yesterday June 8, 2020 urged beneficiaries who have not received their monthly stipends to “remain patient”.
Ma'am, we urge you to remain patient as we are working on it.
