N-Power Stipends: What Ex-Beneficiaries Said About Payment Of 5-Months Backlogs

The disengaged beneficiaries of the Muhammadu Buhari administration’s N-Power programme are calling on Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq to ensure their outstanding five-month stipends are paid before the end of 2020 as promised.

Afriupdate learnt that the Federal Government is owing 14,200 beneficiaries of the scheme five-month pay. The exited N-Power beneficiaries earn N30,000 (approximately 76 US Dollars) per month.

Although Hajia Farouq did reveal in October that her ministry is working towards settling payments on or before the end of 2020, payment has still not been made as at the time of publishing this report, Afriupdate gathered from several beneficiaries.

Yet, as the ‘countdown’ continues, beneficiaries are asking the minister in charge of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIPs) to ‘make them happy’.

Gunmen raided and ransacked a group of villages there, local sources said, in one of the worst attacks this year blamed on heavily armed criminal gangs.
