Nneka Ikem, the Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development on Saturday claimed that Batches A and B N-Power beneficiaries who are owed multiple months stipends should “rejoice, for the inquiry is over”, Afriupdate reports.
“Are you among the 14,200 N-Power beneficiaries awaiting their backlog of stipends? Rejoice for the inquiry is over now. Good news.” Ikem wrote on her known Twitter handle.

It would be recalled that this online news medium had earlier reported that despite the promise by Ikem’s principal to pay all outstanding stipends of exited N-Power beneficiaries before the end of 2020, the Nigerian youths have yet to get settled.
Farouq had in a tweet on her verified Twitter handle in October 2020 assured former N-Power beneficiaries with “legitimate claims” that they’d be settled their arrears before the start of 2021. However that promise – like many pledges by Farouq and numerous Nigerian politicians – remains empty, Afriupdate findings through communication with several Batch A and B beneficiaries revealed.
The Federal Government is owing erstwhile 14,200 beneficiaries of the scheme five-month pay (March to July, 2020). They earn N30, 000 per month.
The N-Power is a scheme set up by President Muhammadu Buhari since 8 June 2016, to address the issues of youth unemployment and help increase social development.
The scheme was created as a component of National Social Investment Program (NSIP), to provide a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development and to ensure that each participant will learn and practice most of what is necessary to find or create work, information by Nigerian authorities said.

Meanwhile, in a piece of related news, the Minister’s aide stated that “if your account was earlier flagged by the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS), then, you won’t be able to log in [to the NEXIT portal].”
