N-Power Permanency: Social Commentator Reveals “What is Expected”

A social commentator identified as Mustapha Kabir Soron Dinki has said that because N-Power beneficiaries supported the Muhammadu Buhari administration to victory in the 2019 presidential election, the present administration should ‘pay them back’, by absorbing them into federal civil service.

Dinki, who was an N-Power beneficiary, via his known Twitter handle on Thursday said that the famed scheme ‘changed his life’.

Recall that Batch A beneficiaries were disengaged from the programme on June 30th after four years in the famed N-Power scheme, while their Batch B counterparts officially made their exit on July 31st – after two years.

These Nigerian youths were exited from the N-Power scheme by the Federal Government without being paid their stipends for the month of July. Plus, they are currently in the dark regarding their exit/transition package.

Afriupdate had earlier reported that several beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s N-Power programme on Thursday 23rd July, 2020 protested at Abuja over unpaid Stipends and disengagement from the famed programme by Federal Government.

Meanwhile, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq on Sunday, 30th August 2020 said that approval has been given for the payment of the outstanding stipends for the exited N-Power Batches A and B beneficiaries as seen below;

During the week, approval was given for the payment of outstanding stipends for the exited N-Power Batches A and B beneficiaries. Details would be announced in due course even as we continue the review of Batch C applications.

The N-Power was introduced in 2016 as part of President Buhari’s National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), aimed at curbing the incessant increase of unemployment and poverty in the country.

Apart from the monthly stipends (N30, 000), some Batch A beneficiaries were given tablet computers to aid further learning. N-Power had five components, which are N-Teach, N-Tax, N-Health, N-Agro, and N-Build
