Worried by the delay in executing two federal road contracts, the Enugu-Port Harcourt and the Aba-Ikot Ekpene highways, and hardship they caused the citizenry, Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, yesterday, gave the contractors handling them up to November 20, 2020 to return to the sites.

He told journalists during an interaction that the state government would be forced to take over the reconstruction of certain critical Abia portions of those roads if the contractors failed to comply with his ultimatum.

Describing the condition of the roads along with that of Umuahia – Ikot Ekpene as impassable, he said it has adversely affected the livelihood of Abia people and interstate commuters.
