FG to reposition medical institutions to global standards

Charges reappointed Medical Directors on quality services

President Muhammadu Buhari has renewed the appointment of Dr Mustapha Yaro as Medical Director of the National Ear Care Centre Kaduna, Kaduna State for a second and final term of four (4) years with effect from 16th August 2022.

The President also renewed the appointment of Dr Aliyu Balarabe as Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Birnin-Kebbi State for a second and final term of four (4) years with effect from 10th January 2023.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has reiterated its determination to restructure, re-strategize and reposition all medical institutions in the country in terms of administration and human capital development to meet up with global standards.

Minister of State for Health, Barr Joseph Ekumankama who conveyed the President’s approval in separate letters to the Medical Directors, reminded them of the enormous responsibilities ahead and tasked them to consolidate and improve upon their previous achievements to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Ekumankama urged them to ensure that the systems at their hospitals are made better and make services available to the people.

He said, “You need to form teams with your staff, for you to succeed you must carry everybody along. Operate on an all-inclusive open door policy, create a good working atmosphere and work in unity of purpose with all stakeholders”.

In his response, Dr Mustapha Yaro thanked Mr President and the Ministry of Health for finding him worthy of a second term in office.

He noted that the centre has the sole responsibility for the treatment of ears, nose and throat in the country and promised to fulfil his obligatory and statutory duties in accordance with the action plan of the health sector.

On his part, Dr Aliyu Balarabe expressed his profound gratitude for the opportunity given to him to serve the nation for another four years and pledged to continue to deliver quality healthcare services to Nigerians.
