As Coronavirus continues to spread, experts have stressed on the need to deploy technology, data to curtail the spread and improve health outcomes.

Head, Medical and Technology, Hygeia Health Management Organisation (HMO), Omoshola Yusuf, said the imperatives of active surveillance of health trends cannot be overemphasised.

This, he noted, would ensure that services are not only geared towards access to curation, but also offers information to prevent serious illness.

“The key part of preventive healthcare is the identification of health trends among our enrollees. To be able to do this, we have built up our own technology stack to digitise the entire process of buying a plan, registering your details and syncing with the providers, who give care by telemedicine or in-person at their facilities.”

Head, Customer Experience, Ubong Nkanta said data has become a valuable commodity that organisations must master.

Nkanta said: “Every interaction our members have creates data, which when properly analysed can reveal insights that not only improve decision accuracy, but also enhances customer experience.

“With our members and providers spread across the country, we are in a good position to track health trends in the country, particularly Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs).”
