Samuel-Horsfall alleges looting of N30m property
Three women, yesterday, asked the Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry on police brutality to compel the Nigeria Police to release the corpses of their children, who were killed by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on November 8, 2018.
The trio: Lelabari Cornelius, Love Lebari and Numkeeree Baah from Luabe Community in Khana Council Area, told the panel that their children were among the local vigilante members that intercepted SARS operatives, who were leading illegal bunkers through the community, and demanded justice and compensations.
They disclosed that the SARS operatives shot sporadically at the junction, which led to the death of their sons: Neebiee Baah, Ewonubari Lebari and Bariledum Cornelius and their corpses taken away.
In his ruling, Chairman of the Commission, Justice Chukwunenye Uriri (rtd.), adjourned the matter to December 8, 2020, for cross-examination of the witnesses.

ALSO, a former House of Representatives member and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Paworiso Samuel-Horsfall, accused operatives of the Nigeria Police of destroying and looting his property worth over N30m.
Samuel-Horsfall said the police comprising operatives of SARS and Police Mobile Force (PMF), invaded his residence at Buguma on March 9, 2019 over allegation that he kept armed thugs in his house.
He said, during the attack on his residence, the policemen, who were accompanied by some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), intimidated and harassed members of the PDP, who came out to vote at Unit 14, Ward Seven in Buguma.
However, during cross-examination of the petitioner, counsel to the Commissioner of Police (CP), S. P. Egop, insisted that no property was looted from Samuel-Horsfall’s residence.
