Kano State has lost its immediate past Chief Judge of the state’s High Court, Shehu Atiku.
His death was disclosed by the Kano State High Court Public Relations Officer (PRO), Baba Ibrahim Jibo, in a statement.
The statement did not disclose the cause of death.
Late Atiku retired from the bench in 2015 as the Chief Judge of Kano State.
The late chief Judge was known as a humble and easy-going person whose humility was very disarming. He was liked for his simplicity and sociable attributes.
He was also said to have refused to bow to threats on his life as he diligently adjudicated on cases brought before the tribunal over which he presided.
A source at the Kano State Government House said Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was shocked over the death of Justice Atiku.

Aid agencies have long warned about the risk of food shortages in northeast Nigeria because of the conflict, which has killed at least 20,000 since 2009 and left more than 2.6 million homeless. In July, the United Nations said nearly 250,000 children under five could suffer from severe acute malnutrition this year in Borno state alone and one in five — some 50,000 — could die. / AFP PHOTO / STEFAN HEUNIS](https://www.afriupdate.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/idps-1062x598-1.jpg)
