Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,  Nigerian Biafra political activist, and leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has bemoaned what he describes as “non-leadership” in the region.

The controversial IPOB leader, who is facing charges of treasonable felony in his home country via his official Facebook page on Wednesday blamed insecurity experienced in Eastern Nigeria on “irresponsible leaders”.

Although he vowed not to show ‘Igbo’ politicians respect until they arrest the ugly situations, Mazi Kanu singled out Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senate Minority Leader, for his outspokenness against ‘the state of disorder’ in South-South and South-East states.

“They [Nigerian politicians] are nitwits – with the exemption of Abaribe,” said Kanu  during his routine broadcast which was monitored by this online news medium.

Abaribe is a surety to the self-exiled leader of IPOB, although, he contests it is illegal for him to remain Kanu’s guarantor, relying on sections 55, 165(3), 167(3) and 488 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, and other provisions of the constitution, that a public officer such as a senator was legally exempted from standing surety for a suspect.
