Aloy Ejimakor the Special Counsel to Biafra political activist, Nnamdi Kanu has refuted some reports on the media that his client has been arrested in the Asian country of Singapore, Afriupdate reports.
Ejimakor, via his known Twitter handle on Wednesday, labeled the information “fake news”.
This online news platform understands that rumours started on Tuesday that Director of Radio Biafra, Kanu (believed to be based in the United Kingdom) was arrested by the police in Singapore when he travelled there.
The report also claimed that “Kanu was arrested 15 days ago, when he visited the country”, and that is why he has not been able to broadcast for some time now on Radio Biafra.
The controversial Biafran activist was said to have been arrested after too many petitions were written against him, the latest being his instruction to IPOB members to kill security forces, burn down police stations and take their guns during the recent #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.
At the present moment, Ejimakor has put those rumours to bed, as he lambastes ‘dishonest Nigerian journalists’.
Afriupdate recalls that the Biafra leadership crisis has seen Uche Mefor transferring his vexation on Kanu and other members of the outlawed group by writing to the British Home Office with the objective to ruin and nullify every asylum chances of IPOB asylum seekers in the United Kingdom (UK).
The said letter written by Mefor according to a recent memo by the Head of Directorate of IPOB, Chika Edoziem, has made it impossible for IPOB members in UK to receive favourable hearing at the tribunals.
The group Kanu founded, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is a Biafran separatist organization in Nigeria – now outlawed.
Its main aim is to restore an independent state of Biafra in the former Eastern Region of Nigeria through a referendum.
