CO-ORDINATOR of the Lagos State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Eddy Megwa, yesterday, said that out of the 5,720 corps members that served in the 2020 Batch A in the state, 32 would repeat their service year.

Megwa, who stated this during the passing out ceremony, said: “The corps members of 2020 Batch A had rounded off their one-year national service and were collecting certificates of national service, having successfully served their father land for one year.

“In Lagos State, we have 5,720 corps members passing out today in all the local councils across the state. We have 32 corps members that are going to have their service extended from one to three months. Some will repeat their service according to the degree of the offences.

“Of the 32 corps members that defaulted in their service, 28 will have their service extended in different months’ duration, while four will repeat their service in the northern and eastern region of the country to serve as deterrent to other corps members.

“For those that absconded, they are going to repeat their service year and be posted to other states of the federation. It can be in the North or East and not the western geo-political zone.”

Megwa, however, advised the corps members to be worthy ambassadors of the scheme, urging them to put the nation first in their endeavours.
