10 Things Southern Governors Discussed At The Meeting Held In Lagos StateSouthern Governors Forum agreed on 10 things during the meeting held on Monday, 5th July 2021.

Afriupdate News reports that the Southern Governors meeting focused on security crisis and situation in the Country, constitutional amendment, Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).

The Southern Governors of the seventeen (17) states in southern Nigeria rose from their meeting in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city with resolutions that touched on burning national issues.

From setting a date to commence the ban on open grazing to their disapproval of “selective” arrests, each of the resolutions reached after the meeting in Lagos represented the interests of the southern governors.

The Southern Governors’ Forum, in a communique signed by its chairman and governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, also reaffirmed its position on zoning the 2023 presidency to the south and the newly passed petroleum industry bill (PIB).

Below are the 10 things the Southern Governors Discussed And Agreed At The Lagos meeting…

1. Next President must be a southerner.

2. Demanded the inclusion of electronic transmission of the election results.

3. Security institutions must inform governors before any operations in their state.

4. September 1 set for the promulgation of anti-open grazing law.

5. State Police must be created.

6. Rejected PIB’s proposed 3% share of the oil revenue to the host community. Supports 5%.

7. Rejected proposed 30% share of profit for the exploration of oil and gas in the basins.

8. Rejected the ownership structure of the proposed Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).

9. Rejected the confirmation of exclusive jurisdiction in pre-election matters on the Federal High Court.

10. Chose Lagos as its permanent secretariat.
