Biafra political activist and leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has denigrated Tuesday’s announcement by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu that the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team will take over from the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Recall Afriupdate had earlier reported that IGP Adamu revealed that officers of the Nigerian Police are expected to undergo the process of debriefing, psychological and medical tests as a prelude to further training and reorientation before being redeployed into mainstream policing duties.

“The IGP has set up a new Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team that will fill the gaps arising from the dissolution of the defunct SARS.
“Prospective members of this new team will also undergo psychological and medical examination to ascertain their fitness and eligibility for the new assignment,” a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba had read.
Although the SWAT is not new, it has generated reactions on social media, with some Nigerians casting doubt over its nobility.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu via his known Twitter handle on Wednesday – expectedly – is averse to the Nigeria Police Force’s new proposition.
Nigeria is beyond redemption. While the entire planet is trending #SARSMUSTEND, the Islamist Fulani-infested @NGRPresident comes up with #SWAT, a new outfit that will as soon absorb the murderers disengaged from #SARS. The only ‘END’ that will work for Nigeria is to #EndNigeria
