Biafra: Uche Mefor Makes Broadcast From London As Nnamdi Kanu Continues To Stay ‘On Break’Alphonsus Uche Okafor-Mefor, the estranged Deputy-Leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), who is currently battling the secessionist group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, on Saturday made a broadcast from his base in London, United Kingdom (UK).

Afriupdate recalls that following the cracks in IPOB, he (Mefor) resigned his role as Nnamdi Kanu’s right-hand man.

This online news medium understands Mazi Kanu has not broadcast for some time now. Kanu’s last broadcast was on October 30, 2020.

Before now, the 53-year-old does broadcast via his known Facebook page twice averagely in a week.

Many believe Kanu’s nonbroadcast – which some have termed ‘unusual’ – is due to the current crisis rocking outlawed IPOB leadership.

Apart from Mefor, another top IPOB member who is no more part of the executive is Amaka Ekwo.

Mefor was said to have called for a change of approach and attitude among IPOB members.

In the broadcast on Biafra Human Rights Radio by Mefor which was monitored by this reporter via Mefor’s known Facebook page, the Biafra political activist debunked several allegations being peddled against him, one is which is that he is being used by some Nigerian politicians.

Check out some information about Nigerian Biafra political activist, Uche Okafor-Mefor below:

  • Uche Okafor-Mefor claimed asylum in the UK in 2005.
  • Before joining IPOB, he used to be a member of MASSOB (Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra) who are associated with Igbo nationalism, which supports the recreation of an independent state of Biafra. This was around 2007.
  • Around the same 2007, Mefor was detained in Tinsley House Immigration Removal Centre, an Immigration detention base in Lowfield Heath, England.
  • Mefor studied International Refugee Law, Armed Conflict, and Psychoanalysis. Although, Afriupdate News cannot independently verify which institution he studied that course.
  • Around mid-2020, Mefor openly confronted his boss, Nnamdi Kanu. Perhaps the first public disagreement between both men.

Some people opine that Mefor formulated some of IPOB’s propagandas.
