This week, the Cable News Network (CNN) will feature two South African stylists, Sindiso Khumalo and Wendy Ntinezo, as it showcases textile and fashion trends across the continent on its African Voices Change Makers programme sponsored by Nigeria’s leading telecommunications provider, Globacom.
Khumalo and Ntinezo are frontline style icons who have made their mark in the fashion and creative industry in Africa and also internationally.
While Khumalo, a specialist in women’s textile designs lives and works in Hackney, East London; she was shortlisted in 2012 for the Elle Magazine Rising Star Competition and showcased her debut SS13 collection at the Awards.
Her Aretha dress was nominated in February 2013 for ‘Most Beautiful Object in South Africa’ by the Design Indaba Cape Town. She actively works with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in various parts of Africa in developing new textiles for her collections.
Ntinezo, on her part, is a 25-year-old Johannesburg-based stylist who is well regarded as a style icon with huge impact on the South African youth. She is equally a content creator, producer, mental wellness advocate and the founder of Black Merge TV.
She recently launched a television show, ‘Conversations We Never Had’, which harps on living, religion and spirituality.
Viewers who tune in will have the opportunity to learn first-hand from the inspiring stories of the two personalities, as they discuss the source of their creativity and how they have thrived in a competitive industry.
The exciting episode will air today on DSTV Channel 401 at 9.30 a.m., and will be repeated on tomorrow at 4.30 a.m., 7.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. and Monday at 5.30 a.m.
