Indigent citizens, less-privileged persons get CACOVID-19 palliatives in Ogun State

The Ogun State government, in collaboration with the Nigerian Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CA-COVID), has provided palliatives to indigent citizens and less privileged to ameliorate the pains of the pandemic in the state.

The state governor, Dapo Abiodun, at the distribution of the palliatives in Abeokuta, yesterday, said that the food items would go round all the 20 local councils.

Abiodun, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mr. Femi Ogunbanwo, said CA-COVID was supporting the government in the fight to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus in the country.

He said: “His Excellency is committed to the welfare, well-ness and well-being of the people of the state and this has been reinforced by this CA-COVID support.”

According to him, a single beneficiary would get a pack containing rice, garri, sugar, salt, noodles and pasta for their respective family.In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, said the palliatives would complement the state government’s effort at reducing the suffering of the people at the grassroots, urging the beneficiaries to give their maximum co-operation to the security personnel and the state committee on palliative distribution.

Also, Chairman, Transition Committee of Abeokuta South Local Council, Mr. Ayo Shomide, commended the private sector-led initiative for their support and the state government for its laudable efforts to combat the virus, as well as spread development to every corner of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Afeez Balogun and Mrs. Abiodun Ojelabi, appreciated the governor as well as CA-COVID for the gesture.
