Tarabans were overjoyed, at the weekend, as the first private FM station hit the state’s airwaves.
The residents, who spoke with The Guardian, expressed excitement that Rock FM 92.3, the first private Frequency Modulation station in the state has finally been birthed.
Established by Rockville Media Hub, the station hit the ground running with interesting programmes that have begun to attract a large number of listeners across the state.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rockville Media Hub, Samuel Ayodele, told The Guardian, in Jalingo, yesterday, that the station was established to promote peace and unity in a multi-ethnic society like Taraba, as well as bridge the gap modern journalism.
According to him, the station is poised to promote the rich cultural heritage of Taraba, providing educational programmes and informing the listeners of happenings around them through professional reportage.
“Among our special focus is preaching unity in the state. We have a great tool to unite the state and bring economic advancement to its people. A united Taraba is a developed and economically advanced state because the information is power,” he said.
Speaking with The Guardian, the General Manager, Jumai Hamzat, noted that the station’s programmes would be tailored to what really affects the communities in the state, as well as promote peace and unity through its rich content.
