Baba Ijesha: Survivor suffered vagina cut, says medical doctor
Baba Ijesha

The trial of Nollywood actor, James Olanrewaju also known as Baba Ijesha for alleged defilement of a 14 -year-old teenager continued, yesterday, at Special Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos with a medical doctor, Dr. Aniekan Makanjuola, testifying that the victim suffered vagina cut.

Dr. Makanjuola, the Clinical Director, Women At Risk International Foundation (WARIF), under cross-examination by the defence counsel, Dada Awosika (SAN), said the examination of the survivor showed healed blunt laceration in her vagina.

She said further examination revealed that the survivor was not sexually active.
Makanjuola said: “It was a minor laceration that may not necessarily mean blood was gushing out when it happened. There was rupture on that part of the vagina but it has healed.”

The forensic medical examination expert clarified that the report she gave was neither based on the story told by the survivor nor on the account by her mother, but on the forensic examination carried out on her.
Earlier, the witness in her evidence-in-chief led by the prosecution counsel, Y.A. Sule, told the court that when the survivor was examined by her team, they observed whitish discharge in her vagina.
She also said medical personnel and a psychologist conducted the examination of the victim.
