Uganda’s COVID-19 caseload reaches 124,190 as deaths hit 3,165

Uganda’s Health Ministry on Wednesday announced 92 new COVID-19 infections from a sample size of 2,863 tests, bringing the country’s total caseload to 124,190.

In the same period, two new fatalities were recorded, bringing the country’s total number of virus-related deaths to 3,165.

Uganda is one of 16 African countries that have registered more than 100,000 infections.

The East African nation has placed its focus on vaccination as a means of tackling further spread of the virus.

So far, the the country has received 5,129,763 doses of vaccines and administered 2,200,321 doses.

Vaccines available in the country include the Chinese-manufactured Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna.

Uganda expects to receive a total of 11,978,840 doses, a mix of donations and purchases via the African Union, by December.
