Moroccan security services have foiled two smuggling operations of more than ten tonnes of cannabis, local press reported on Sunday.

During the first operation, more than eight tonnes of cannabis were seized on Saturday by the Royal Gendarmerie onboard a truck parked inside an agricultural estate in the central city of Taroudant, Barlamane.com news website said.

Many people with suspected links to a criminal drug trafficking network were arrested, it added.

A total of two tons of cannabis were seized in the second operation in the city of Agadir, official RIM radio reported.
