The National Center for Disease Control of Libya on Monday reported 1,031 COVID-19 cases in the previous 24 hours, bringing the nationwide count to 38,468.

The center also registered 334 recoveries and six deaths, bringing the national tally to 22,410 and 602 respectively.

In order to fight the pandemic and prevent infections, Libyan authorities have taken a series of precautionary measures since the first case was reported in March, including closing the country’s borders, shutting down schools and mosques, banning public gatherings, and imposing a curfew.

On Tuesday, the UN-backed government allowed the reopening of mosques, provided that worshipers maintain precautionary measures, such as social distancing and wearing medical masks.
