The Central Bank of Kenya’s Monetary Policy Committee is scheduled to meet at the end of next month, the bank said on Friday.

“The Monetary Policy Committee is scheduled to hold its next meeting on Tuesday September 29, 2020,” it said on Twitter.

The Monetary Policy Committee last met in July, leaving thebenchmark lending rate at 7.0% for the third time in a row.

Monetary policy consists of decisions and actions taken by the Central Bank to ensure that the supply of money in the economy is consistent with growth and price objectives set by the government. The objective of monetary policy is to maintain price stability in the economy. Price stability refers to maintenance of a low and stable inflation.
