Kenya reports 345 new COVID-19 cases, four more deaths
Health workers personal protective equipment (PPE) record the details of residents, as they stand at social distance to each other, during a Covid-19 testing drive at Olympic Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya, on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Halfway through Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyattas second term his pledge of transforming the economy through manufacturing, farming, health care and low-cost housing have been slow to show results, and the coronavirus pandemic could now reduce that to little more than an election promise. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Kenya rose to 106,470 after the Ministry of Health reported 345 new cases on Tuesday.

“Today 345 people have tested positive to the coronavirus disease, out of a sample size of 5,550 tested in the last 24 hours. The total confirmed positive cases are now 106,470. The cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,306,601,” the ministry said in a statement.

The last two weeks have seen the country witness a steady rise in cases with a total of 3,304 cases reported. The 410 cases reported on February 26 was the highest number of daily cases reported since December 23.

According to the ministry, 378 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,494 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
