Senior diplomats from Libya and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday vowed to boost economic cooperation between the two countries, and collaborate in areas such as renewable energy and investment.

Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush and the newly-appointed UAE Ambassador to Libya Mohamed Al Shamsi discussed issues of mutual cooperation during a meeting here on Monday, according to a statement provided by Libya’s Foreign Ministry.

“During the meeting, (the two officials) stressed the importance of promoting economic cooperation, renewable energies, investment, activating the joint committee between the two countries, and leveraging UAE’s development and rebuilding expertise,” reads the statement.

Mohamed Al Shamsi pledged to support the Libyan government’s efforts to achieve stability in the country, as well as his country’s willingness to expand bilateral collaboration, according to the statement.
