The 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) has been postponed indefinitely due to health fears arising from the fact that several member states are experiencing spikes in new COVID-19 cases.

The 26th CHOGM and associated events was due to be held in the Rwandan capital Kigali from June 21-26.

According to the Commonwealth, a new date for the event will be announced with Rwanda retaining right to host it.

The event was initially supposed to have been held in Kigali in June 2020 but was postponed because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
