More than 50 people were injured during protests on Thursday demanding restoration of civilian rule in Sudan, according to the Anadolu Agency citing the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors.
The protests took place in the capital Khartoum, and Gadarif and Dongola cities.
The Sudanese government has not yet responded to the statement by the doctors’ group, according to a report by the Anadolu Agency.
Sudan has been rocked by protests since a military takeover from a transitional government on October 25.
The doctors’ group says at least 83 protesters have been killed in rallies since the start of the protests.
Sudanese authorities have consistently refuted claims of using live ammunition in dealing with the protests. They have also said that dozens of security personnel have been injured in the protests.
