She said the sureties must be resident in Abuja, must also have landed assets worth the bail sum in the nation’s capital, and they are to deposit the original title documents of the assets with the court.

The judge also barred them from addressing any rally pending the conclusion of their trial on charges of treasonable felony among others.

Sowore was barred from traveling out of Abuja and the second defendant out of Osogbo, during the trial.

Reacting to the ruling, the defendants’ lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), said the bail conditions were stringent.

Justice Okukwu had earlier shifted the hearing till afternoon after an initial request to stand down the bail application hearing.

When the matter was called on Friday morning, Falana asked the court for a stand-down to enable him write a response to the counter affidavit served by the prosecutors.

The aforementioned defendants were arraigned by the Federal Government on seven charges bordering on alleged conspiracy to commit treason and money laundering among others.

Recall that we had reported that the two were brought to the court by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), also known as the State Security Service (SSS).

But Sowore and Bakare pleaded not guilty to all the charges against them.

While Falana argued for the defendants, Hassan Liman, another SAN, led the prosecution’s legal team to argue against the bail application.
